The Buckeye Ranch Announces Opening of New Facility
COLUMBUS, Ohio (Sept. 17, 2008) - With a $4.5 million investment, The Buckeye Ranch's new Family Center on West Broad Street will allow a 50 percent increase in the number of children served Rick Rieser, The Buckeye Ranch president and CEO, announced at the annual board meeting Wednesday.
With the Cross Creek day treatment facility in Worthington already at capacity, the new building supplies a workspace for expanded counseling services, community-based treatment programs and a permanent home for The Ranch's day treatment center.
In five years, the number of children cared for at The Buckeye Ranch has grown from 1,200 per day in 2003 to 2,000 in 2008. Rieser said ADAMH Board of Franklin County released statistics that predict a further 35 percent increase in the number of Central Ohio children and families who will need help over the next decade.
"The Ranch will continue to be the answer for these children and their families, and we are planning to meet the ever increasing need for care," said Rieser. "Since 1961, The Buckeye Ranch has enjoyed tremendous success in restoring hope and offering healing treatment for children and families. Our plan is to continue to serve and meet the needs of our clients and this community."
To better educate Central Ohio residents on the services it provides and the ever increasing need for mental health care, The Buckeye Ranch also unveiled a new ad campaign to begin in November. The campaign will encourage community support to permit The Buckeye Ranch to continue the highest quality treatment programs for children struggling to overcome abuse, neglect, mental illness, suicidal tendencies, addictions and behavior disorders.
