About The Buckeye Ranch
- The Buckeye Ranch provides hope and healing for children and families who struggle with emotional, behavioral and mental health issues.
- The Ranch opened its doors to the first group of ten boys in 1961. Now the organization spans six locations throughout Ohio, employs a staff of 400, and works with 2,000 girls, boys and families of every race and economic background each day. Their services have grown to include community-based services, foster care, child protection services, residential treatment, deaf services and educational programs.
- Statistics show that The Buckeye Ranch programs result in positive changes. Of those children who have successfully completed their course of treatment 84 percent are back at home and staying at home, 88 percent are back in school, 91 percent are making passing grades and 88 percent are getting along with their teachers and peers.
- For many children, The Buckeye Ranch is their last chance to lead a normal and healthy life. The Ranch needs support to help even more children who are struggling to overcome serious issues including abuse, neglect, mental illness, suicidal tendencies, addictions and behavior disorders.
The Learn, Care, Give Campaign
- In just five years, the number of children in The Buckeye Ranch care has grown from 1,200 daily in 2003 to 2,000 each day in 2008, a 67 percent increase. In order to meet this escalating need for services, the Ranch must expand and renovate.
- For the first time in its history, The Buckeye Ranch will look to the generosity of the entire community to support its next phase of growth. The funds raised by the Capital Campaign will purchase and renovate the new Family Center on West Broad Street and allow for campus improvements, renovations and technology upgrades on the Grove City campus.
- The Buckeye Ranch as set a campaign goal of $7.5 million over three years with $4.5 million needed for the new Family Center and $3 million for Grove City campus facilities.
