Who We Are

For nearly 50 years, The Buckeye Ranch has provided hope and healing to thousands of children and their families throughout central Ohio.

The Buckeye Ranch offers family-focused mental health treatment services for children with behavioral or psychological disorders. For the 2,000 children and families we serve every day the Ranch is often their last chance for leading a normal, healthy life.

We need your support to improve our services, expand our reach and to help even more children who are struggling to overcome serious issues including abuse, neglect, mental illness, suicidal tendencies, addictions and behavioral disorders.

Where We Are

The Ranch is more than a place.

As need in the community has grown, so has The Buckeye Ranch. Far more than a single location, its network of services span the greater central, southern and western reaches of Ohio.

Today, you'll find offices in Hebron, Columbus, Dayton and Cincinnati, Ohio as well as the main campus in Grove City, Ohio. The Ranch also has staff stationed at The Ohio School of the Deaf, Rockbridge Academy and Alum Crest Alternative High School (Columbus City Schools). With over 400 staff members serving children from central, west and southwest Ohio, the Ranch is now Ohio's largest private agency providing mental health and behavioral health care for children and families.

What We Do

Treating each child as an individual — with specialized care

When a child arrives at The Buckeye Ranch, the most immediate goal of our staff is to develop an individually tailored course of treatment.

The Buckeye Ranch Services & Treatments:

Community-Based Services

Our Community-Based Services allow children to live at home which significantly reduces the cost of care, versus residential care. The new Buckeye Ranch Family Center will serve as a home base for our Community-Based teams.

Foster Care

The Square One Treatment Foster Care Program was launched in 1997. It provides step-down services for youth leaving residential care and therapeutic foster care services for youth who could not remain at home due to concerns about their safety.

Permanent Family Solutions Network

One of the few successful privatized child safety programs in the United States, The Buckeye Ranch Permanent Family Solutions Network (PFSN) is nationally recognized for providing critical child protection services.

Other Services

The Buckeye Ranch also offers Intensive Family-based Counseling, Psychological Assessments, Training and an Equestrian Center.

Deaf Services

Statistics show that 38% of the deaf population experience some form of mental distress. The Ranch was one of the first agencies in Ohio to design a Deaf Services Program for deaf or hearing impaired children who also have emotional or behavioral problems. Without The Buckeye Ranch's deaf services these children would be forced to seek treatment out of state.

Residential Treatment

The 145-acre Buckeye Ranch Grove City campus offers secured residential treatment for the most urgent cases. For a child with serious behavioral issues, a temporary, secured residential program may be required.

Educational Programs

Connecting mental health services with specialized education, The Buckeye Ranch Educational Day Treatment Center helps middle and high school students who have either dropped out of school or been expelled. After completing the program, 91% of students re-entering their traditional school earn a "C" average or better.
